Kristofer “Kris” Hecht, President of Duane Houkom, Inc (DHI) truly worked has way up through the ranks. Kris started as a laborer (hand drilling mass concrete) on projects along the Gulf coast. His general aptitude for the design and loading of the explosives soon led to his bidding, designing and running a majority of the projects. When Mr. Houkom retired, Kris took the opportunity to purchase the company.
G. S. “Steve” Rainwater, Vice President, has been in the explosive industry since 1974. Steve started in the quarry and construction rock blasting business where he was responsible for designing, drilling, loading and shooting various large construction projects across the southeast. In 1982 Steve moved into the explosive demolition industry and worked with various companies until 2005 when he joined DHI.
Kris and Steve are or have been members of National Association of Demolition Contractors, the Society of Explosive Engineers (National and International), local chapters of the S.E.E., just to name a few. They are licensed in most the of the states that require state explosive license, plus Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia and others. They are certified instructors for the Untied States Department of Labor Mine Safety and Health Administration.
